Exe. # 12: Add a JaxCat Search Gadget

Here you can see my JaxCat Search box on the right. Google does have so many gadgets for us to explore. Glad to know about it.

Exe. # 11: LibraryThing

I am very happy to get to know LibraryThing through this training. I added 6 books and got a huge surprise to know there are really many readers around to read the same books. I found out there are 49 readers who put Geronimo Stilton's book in their libraries. And there are recommendations to other Stilton's books. It is fun to explore further and further.

Here is my LibraryThing

Exe. # 9: Finding feeds

Of all the search tools, I like Bloglines and topix.net. Blogline's search tool allow you to search the posts, feeds, citations and web. I am wondering what's the relation among them. Can I say web= posts + feeds + citations? What's relation between feed search and our regular internet search? Can we get more academic information from all the feeds?

I also love topix.net. This one will go to my favoriates. I can find all the news, local, national, and international together here. It is better than all the feeds I subscribed yesterday for news.

I don't plan to put more time on syndic8.com and technorati.com. I can't understand sydic8 quite well and technorti can not compare with topix.net in the design and the volume of news.

Exe. 8: RSS and News Feeder

I saw RSS all the time on our public library website and at last I got to know what RSS is with this exercise. I understand it will be a great advantage for me to receive what I want instead of surfing the Internet all the time. But after adding 11 websites I realized it would take me sometime to get used to the word-only format. (I miss the pictures for the news.) But with all the subscription, I will definitely get the latest information if I want to check it out.

Here's the public URL to my account:

Exe. #7 Blog about Technology

I just read Carol Bailey's post on technology. She raised the question about the outdating of our computers. "What if we had our own independent source of technology funding and didn't have to rely on the City for any of it?"

I am thinking about outsourcing. Can we just rent computers from a certain company? In this way, the lending company will be responsible for any technical problems. And we can borrow new updated computers once the old ones are out of date. Is it possible? Is it just my dream?

Exe. # 6: More Flickr Fun

It is so much fun to explore the Flickr Tools. I definitely need to create a Flickr account.

Here come two images I created with Flickr Jigsaw Tool and Trading Card Maker.

I also like the Flickr Postcard Brower.

Lifelong Learning & L2

The easiest habit is No. 4 for me because I always have confidence in myself as a competent and fast learner. The hardest one is No. 1. I will have a goal in my mind at the beginning, then I may forget my original goat and go easy.
